Selena Gomez’s monologue for her episode of Saturday Night Live shouted at both of them Only the murders in the building Co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short participated, and the first appeared surprisingly in the episode. A short digital film was shown during the episode, portraying itself as a TV series called American Inventors. Gomez made his debut as host, revealing that this week’s “episode” of the series revolves around the American establishment, the whoopee masters. Martin then appears in the episode as the “inventor” of the pillow, Archie Gizmo, detailing how he came up with the concept, rooted in his wife, Eddie Bryant as “Dina Bynes”.
The sketch continued well after the invention of the whoopee pillow, revealing that Gizmo was inspired by his wife to create nearly every other classic prank in the book. Spring snakes in a peanut jar, electric shock pens, etc. are bookmarked throughout the funny drawing. Martin appeared prominently throughout the film, although Martin Short unfortunately did not, despite many assuming that both would appear after Gomez’s monologue. See it for yourself below!

This is Martin On’s latest appearance Saturday Night Live, having appeared in the mid-season final in December when he was ready to welcome Paul Rudd to the “Five Timers Club”. Far from being a traditional episode, this episode ended up airing fan-favorite sketches and digital shorts that were taped before premiere time. Martin appeared as a guest in that episode alongside Tom Hanks and Tina Fey. It wasn’t the last time Martin appeared during this season of the series, returning to the February-hosted episode of John Mulaney alongside Candice Bergen, Tina Fey, Elliot Gould, Conan O’Brien and Rod in five more. Martin, Gomez and Martin Short will return to their roles for Only the murders in the building Season two on June 28, only on Hulu. The show’s official new season description reads: “After the sudden death of Arconia’s chairman, Bunny Folger, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel raced to uncover her killer. However, three (unfortunate) complications ensued – the trio was publicly announced involved in the The rabbit murder, and now they’re the subject of a rival podcast, they have to deal with a group of neighbors in New York who all think they’ve committed murder.”
